What a school believes shapes everything it does — so we would rather you read our beliefs in full than have to wonder. This is the complete Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith of Sol & Son Dual Language Academy, posted openly.
Our teachers, staff, and volunteers agree to this statement when they join our team, and families read it as part of getting to know the school during enrollment. It is the same foundation you will find woven through our story and values. The full statement follows.
Scripture & the fundamentals of morality
Sol & Son DLA is firmly rooted in the affirmations of Scripture as related to its recorded history and the fundamentals of morality. We adhere to a literal interpretation of the Scriptures in all things, including the Creation of the world. We respect all human beings (born and unborn) as image bearers of God. We firmly oppose racism and the mistreatment of any person regardless of their beliefs, background, or sinful nature. We value purity, and align with a Biblical definition of marriage (between one biological man and one biological woman). We believe that sexual relations are only permissible within the bounds of Biblical marriage. We believe that God created each individual, and that gender is a sacred assignment given by God at birth.
The Triune God & the Lord Jesus Christ
We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons (Rom 8, Eph 1:13-14). We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1), His virgin birth (Matthew 1:18), His sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21), His miracles (Acts 10:38), His vicarious death as the only sacrifice for the sin of the world (1 John 2:2), His bodily resurrection from the dead (Luke 24:39), His ascension to the right hand of God as our intercessor (Hebrews 4:14), and His future return in glory: first, to rapture His church (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18), and second, to establish the Kingdom of God upon the earth (Revelation 20:6).
The Holy Spirit & sanctification
We believe that God gives His Holy Spirit to dwell in the lives of "born again" believers as a guarantee of our inheritance and salvation through Jesus (Acts 2:38, 2 Corinthians 1:22, Ephesians 1:14). We believe in the process of spiritual development (sanctification) wrought in a believer's life by the Holy Spirit. The growth involves daily dying to sin and living unto righteousness (Romans 6:1-23), finds expression in a holy life (Hebrews 12:24) and will be culminated at the return of Christ (1 John 3:2).
Salvation by grace through faith
We believe that every person has worth as a creation of God, but that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). We believe that salvation is a free gift of God, and we are saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23). We believe that forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust in Christ as Savior and Lord (John 3:16). We believe that those accepting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized into Him (Romans 10:9, Acts 2:38). We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority in life and doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (Psalm 119:105).
The Church & healing
We believe that the church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue the tasks of reaching the lost and discipling the saved, helping them to become fully devoted followers of Christ (Ephesians 4:1-16, Matthew 28:19-20). We believe that every member of the body is a minister; the Elders and staff are to help equip the members for their ministry (1 Peter 2:5, Ephesians 4:11-12). We believe in divine healing for the spirit, mind, and body; and that this healing is accomplished in the redemptive work of Christ on the cross and appropriated in the believer's life through prayer (Isaiah 53:5, Matthew 8:17, 1 Peter 2:24, James 5:13-15). We believe that Jesus Christ will one day return and that all those who have been saved will be with the Lord forever in eternity (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Gender, marriage & sexuality
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct and complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27). The rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
We believe that each person is created in the image of God, and that human sexuality reflects that image in terms of intimate love, communication, companionship, self-subordination to the greater whole, and fulfillment. The Word of God uses the marital relationship as the supreme metaphor of His relationship with His covenant people and to reveal the truth that this relationship is between one God and one people. Therefore, God's plan for human sexuality is that it be expressed only in a lifelong monogamous relationship between one man and one woman within the framework of marriage. This is the only relationship divinely designed for the birth and raising of children and is a union made in the sight of God, taking precedence over any other human relationship. This is validated by Genesis 1:27-28; 2:18, 20, 23-24; Isa. 54:4-8; 62:5b; Jer. 3:14; Ezekiel 16; Hosea 2; Mal. 2:14; Matt. 19:4-6; Mark 10:9; John 2:1-2, 11; 1 Cor. 9:5; Eph. 5:23-32; 1 Tim. 5:14; Heb. 13:4; and Revelation 19:7-8.
We believe that God has ordained that no intimate sexual activity should take place outside of marriage. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual conduct, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and the use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
We believe that to preserve the function and integrity of Sol & Son DLA as a Christian ministry, and to provide a biblical model for Sol & Son DLA families to follow, it is imperative that all persons employed by Sol & Son DLA in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:14-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:22).
Redemption, compassion & the sanctity of life
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
We believe that every person should be shown compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31).
We believe that every human being's life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life has immeasurable value in all its dimensions, including unborn babies, the elderly, those with physical or mental disabilities, and any other stage or condition from conception to natural death. Therefore, we are called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Psalm 139).
