Pre-K Enrichment
Pre-Kinder · Los primeros pasos en español
Half-day, play-based Spanish immersion for ages 2–4 — a gentle first step into school, and the on-ramp into our elementary program. Mornings only, two or four days a week.

What Pre-K looks like
Our Pre-K classrooms are play-based and language-immersive. About 90% of the morning happens in Spanish — songs, stories, centers, snack-table conversation, and lots of play — with teachers who grew up speaking the language. Ages 2–4 are the peak of a child's language-learning window, and at this age immersion doesn't look like lessons. It looks like play, and it works.
Pre-K is half-day on purpose, so let's be plain about what it is and isn't: mornings run 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, and families choose two or four days a week. That means Sol & Son Pre-K is not full-day childcare, and we don't try to be. It's built for families who want early Spanish immersion as a supplement — alongside a parent at home or a homeschool rhythm — and as the natural ramp into Kindergarten here.
Three classes, one program
Pre-K is grouped by age, each class with its own bilingual lead teacher:
- PK 2Los Corderitos · age 2 · Lead Teacher Alondra Flores.
- PK 3Las Ranitas · age 3 · Lead Teacher Karla Diaz.
- PK 4Los Monitos · age 4 · Lead Teacher Jisdreily "Jiji" Rivas.
Nathaly Vasquez supports the early childhood classrooms as our EC Teacher's Assistant. Two-day families in the 3s and 4s attend Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday.
The weekly rhythm
- Mon–ThuIn person, 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Play-based Spanish immersion mornings.
- FridayNo school for Pre-K — the Friday virtual day is for Kindergarten and up.
- Sat–SunClosed. Rest and family time.
The school runs a year-round calendar — roughly six weeks on, one week off, with longer breaks at Christmas and the end of the school year. Dates live on the school calendar.
What families should know
Pre-K is the on-ramp. New students can join Sol & Son only at or before 1st grade, so starting here gives your child the longest runway — children who come up through Pre-K walk into Kindergarten already comfortable hearing and answering in Spanish.
Pre-K has its own half-day tuition schedule with two-day and four-day rates — the numbers live on the tuition page. One honest note: the NC Opportunity Scholarship starts at Kindergarten, so it doesn't apply to Pre-K. Private scholarships funded by grants and community donors are sometimes available for preschool-aged students, based on family need and availability of funds.
